Comcast Business — UX Copywriting
My work with Comcast Business ranges from shorter merchandizing and e-commerce UX writing to longer-form product info page storytelling. Our goals included positioning the portfolio of small- and medium-business services into a solution-forward approach, delivering a product story that reflects the needs of prospects, and creating a clear pathway to sales conversion.
Making a case for cybersecurity
Comcast Business has largely focused on cybersecurity since the launch of their internet security service. When we looked at how this page functioned, we knew it needed to do more than just list features and benefits. It had to illustrate the necessity of this level of protection — especially for smaller businesses who lack the cybersecurity protection of a larger enterprise.
The story of internet security is told in 3 parts. Starting from the top and into the first section of the page we come in hot with the devastating effects of cyberattacks. Next we offer the user a video tour of the product in order to see it in action, followed by a more detailed breakdown of the functionality. Finally, we offer thought leadership and insights to help empower the reader to make an informed decision. The pathway to shopping is more subtle for this page as the security product now comes bundled with most offers. However, we provide two avenues for the user: a button in the hero card and a lead generation form at the close.
Home-based businesses and remote work
Even before the pandemic Comcast Business knew the importance of targeting home-based businesses and remote workers. Since most individuals tend to have residential internet service and mobile phones, we knew the story had to focus on three key areas: reliability, privacy, and security.
To answer the question: “Why get internet when I already have internet?” We called out slowdown from household consumption, data caps and fees, and the lack of dynamic IP addresses. Next, we dove into how a separate phone line keeps your personal contact info private but still offers the freedom of anywhere calling. Finally, we showcased the services you can’t always get included with residential plans like 4G LTE backup and cybersecurity for small businesses.
Going head-to-head with AT&T Business
When AT&T came out swinging, we didn’t shy away from a side-by-side comparison. The story on this page is very straightforward. Comcast Business offers the most gig-speeds, comprehensive cybersecurity protection, and more to the most small businesses. Period.
SD-WAN for enterprises and small businesses
When it comes to advanced technology solutions that pivot between smaller businesses and larger enterprises, your audience can range in levels of understanding and resources. The goal of this page is to promote two levels of SD-WAN service while keeping the information accessible to all readers.
Product shop offer detail UX re-architecture
In 2021, Comcast Business did a full redesign of their e-commerce shop view detail pages. Based on survey information and customer data, we learned we had to solve a lot in a single journey. Including high-level views of offer constructs, pricing and contract terms, value benefits, and most of all, the details of each service included.
This page walks the user through high-level benefits, features, and “good for” information followed by companion products, and a detailed view of their financial contract.
UX sales merchandizing
In this campaign effort we leveraged copy from our 2022 Winter Olympics sponsorship campaign to promote two featured offers that spoke to two different audiences. Through nuance and storytelling we were able to showcase an offer that speaks to businesses looking for an affordable deal on internet and phone, as well as an offer for businesses requiring more advanced speeds. The campaign tie in asks the user to begin the year as a leader in their industry and find inspiration through the hard work of American Olympians.
