Temple University — Marketing Copywriting

The school of Sport, Tourism, and Hospitality Management at Temple University was an incredible experience that offered me a deeper look into the marketing copy needs of higher education. The work we produced included short- and long-form site copy promoting curriculum and career benefits, support documents for prospective school donors, and editorial interviews with alumni.

A game-changing program in a sport-obsessed city

When Temple’s School of Sport, Tourism, and Hospitality Management (STHM) did a re-architecture of their site, they wanted to shout the benefits of their newly minted Master of Science programs from the rooftops stadiums. The main story of this page balances the seriousness of education that Temple University is known for with the excitement of being located in a city that eats, drinks, and breathes sports.

We took an editorial style approach that walks the reader through benefits and courses with visual and mental breaks that feature alumni, affiliated teams, and career opportunities.

Checking in to a career with promise

The second advanced degree offered by STHM is the Master of Science in Hospitality Management. Similar to the Master of Science in Sport Business program, Temple wanted this page to illustrate the legitimacy of the degree by highlighting the seemingly endless opportunities within this field, the benefit of learning in a city built around tourism, and highlighting alumni success stories.

Keeping up with ever-changing industries

Soliciting alumni support is common practice for higher education institutions, and STHM is no different. When you consider how often the sport and tourism industries need to evolve, it can be a struggle for any university to keep up. Though STHM has an engaged, dedicated alumni community, it remains critical to outline what and how philanthropy empowers future generations. This might not be a splashy marketing effort, but holds equal weight in providing a better future for students.
